UNSW - Institutional Analysis and Reporting - UNSW Plans

Enrolment Plan - Load Generated and Load Taught

Each year a UNSW Enrolment Plan is developed which provides details of projections of student load (in EFTSU) by program and teaching Faculty. The projections are based on average retention rates by program and funding type, new programs proposed, and planned intakes in each program provided by Deans.

The UNSW Enrolment Plan is used as the basis of the University's annual discussions with the Department of Education, Science and Training about enrloment profile and funding, and the allocation of resources internally to Faculties through the UNSW Budget. It is also used to determine targets for admission of students to each program at the beginning of the year and at the commencement of second semester each year.

The Institutional Analysis and Reporting Office publishes a set of tables to this website which show the planned versus the actual intake for each funding type, program level and program for each Faculty. The tables are based on load generated and load taught. The tables are updated every week.

Enrolment Plan - Estimated Income for all students based on planned EFTSU

The Institutional Analysis and Reporting Office has published a set of tables that show the estimated income that will be generated in the current year for all students, based on the planned EFTSU that is published in the Enrolment Plan. The tables show the planned income for each funding type and program level by program.

The planned income from fee-paying students is calculated on the same average dollar per EFTSU value that the Office of the Chief Financial Controller uses in it's estimated fees for each faculty published in the UNSW budget document. Thus, the planned fees published on this website are directly comparable to the figures published in the UNSW budget document.

Notes for planned income data tables:

The planned income data represented in the tables are intended as an aid for faculties and schools in determining how the planned EFTSU published in the Enrolment Plan equates to the income that would be expected from all students. The planned income will allow the faculties to have a better undestanding of the size of the final actual budget available for the current year.

The data before 2008 does not include the Study Abroad program (program code 6001).
